Q. when an ecosystem contains many different species, there are usually a high number of links in its food web. how does this affect the sustainability of the ecosystem?
A. An ecosystem consists of a large number of interacting plants, animals, insects, bugs, etc. all of whom are eating some other parts of the system and/or are being eaten by some one else. The terms “food chain” and “food web” are merely pointing to one aspect of these interactions.
A food chain follows one path of energy and materials between species. A food web is more complex and is a whole system of connected food chains. In a food web, organisms are placed at different trophic levels.
For sure there will be a lot of chaos caused when you destroy that link ,but I doubt all of humanity will be exterminated, even if destroy one link it is still reversible,Plus I have no idea of ow you will be supposed to do that kind of trick
